OpenAI rolls out GPT-6 Rosalind Research, a GPT-6 generation life sciences model for approved research orgs in Work, Codex and the API at $15/$75 per million tokens

In its October 30 ChatGPT Business release notes, OpenAI said GPT-6 Rosalind Research is rolling out to a limited set of customers with Research approval. It shows up in the model picker in ChatGPT Work and Codex, not in the Chat tab, and separately approved organizations can call it through the API as gpt-6-rosalind. OpenAI's token-based Enterprise rate card lists it at $15 per million input tokens, $1.50 cached input and $75 output, three times the price of GPT-5.5 Rosalind Research.

Key Takeaways

  • Approved orgs only: both the organization and the user need Rosalind Research approval, and Discovery approval does not include it
  • Where to use it: the model picker in ChatGPT Work and Codex, not the Chat tab; in Codex it pairs with the Life Sciences Research plugin
  • API model name gpt-6-rosalind needs separate approval and is limited to internal research tools, not customer-facing products
  • Priced at $15 input, $1.50 cached input and $75 output per million tokens, versus $5/$0.50/$25 for GPT-5.5 Rosalind Research
  • Enterprise workspaces start with a two-week Admin Preview that is off by default until an admin enables it for approved users

Anthropic shares early results from Claude in drug development: six partners including BMS, plus its own programs via Mithril Medicine

In an Oct 27 blog post, Anthropic described months of deep research partnerships between its life sciences team and six organizations (BigHat, Bristol Myers Squibb, Divergence Labs, Enveda, Generate Biomedicines and The Column Group), covering hit generation, lead optimization, manufacturing paperwork and clinical trial planning. It also said it acquired the one-person company Mithril Medicine to run its own programs for rare childhood muscular dystrophy. Anthropic stresses the work is mostly preclinical so far.

Anthropic shares early results from Claude in drug development: six partners including BMS, plus its own programs via Mithril Medicine

Key Takeaways

  • Divergence Labs: Claude generated about 35,000 antibody designs in roughly a month, largely autonomously, yielding 3 hits that bind IgE and 20 that dislodge it, 3 of which beat the standard drug at dislodging (vendor-reported)
  • BigHat: about 1,010 variants made and tested in about 10 weeks; the best versions bound over 10x more tightly, the cancer lead stayed in solution 18°C higher, and the other lead clumped over 100x more slowly
  • Enveda: across 1,061 pages of manufacturing documents Claude caught all 11 issues humans found plus 7 they missed, cutting review time 89% (from over 25 hours to under 3)
  • Generate Biomedicines: a CAR-T component designed with Claude Code was about 70% shorter and let immune cells make roughly 10x as many receptors
  • Mithril Medicine acquisition: its founder used Claude to coordinate 11 external labs and went from idea to promising mouse results in under 18 months; human trials could start as soon as late 2028 (official blog)

Anthropic's Claude Autonomously Discovers Novel Bacterial Enzyme System (ART): First Life Sciences Lab Breakthrough

Anthropic (@AnthropicAI) announced that Claude has autonomously discovered a previously unknown enzyme system in bacterial DNA, termed Array-Associated Reverse Transcriptase (ART). Operating alongside CRISPR-like repeats, ART represents a novel RNA-directed genome modification mechanism and marks the first major discovery from Anthropic's dedicated wet lab and life sciences team.

Anthropic's Claude Autonomously Discovers Novel Bacterial Enzyme System (ART): First Life Sciences Lab Breakthrough

Key Takeaways

  • Claude formulated novel biochemical hypotheses independently across tens of thousands of uncharacterized bacterial genomes.
  • The ART system couples non-canonical reverse transcriptases with guide RNAs, enabling targeted modifications without Cas9.
  • Anthropic's wet lab biochemically validated the predicted RNA-templated cleavage activity in vitro.
  • Detailed research findings and protein structure coordinates are published on Anthropic's official Newsroom.
